The "Changing the World One Mind at a Time" Scholarship was founded in August 2018, the same year I graduated with my Master’s in Counseling Psychology. I was fortunate to receive a full scholarship for my graduate studies—which meant I paid nothing out of pocket. However, I was not able to work during my program. Thankfully, my university provided an assistantship that not only offered a stipend but ensured I could still earn while focusing on my degree. That experience made me deeply aware of how rare such support is—especially for aspiring therapists who face financial barriers while entering a field that desperately needs more representation. As of recent data, only 4% of licensed therapists in the U.S. identify as Black or African-American. In a profession where our presence is critically needed, it is my honor to offer this scholarship to help future changemakers overcome one less hurdle. Now in its 6th year, the "Changing the World One Mind at a Time" Scholarship continues to uplift and invest in the next generation of mental health professionals.
